This language was created by two datamouth profeesors,Jhn Kemeny and Tom Kurtz,in 1964.Its purpose was to meke computers more accessible to students)They accomblished this by making the language interactive and by using standard english code words.Interactive means that the computer responds directly and immediatly to the input of the user .Talking to a computer than becomes similar to talking to a person.
Bill Gates and Paul Allen ,the founders of Mirosoft,implented BASIC on microcomputers when they created Altair Basic in 1975.Without their efforts ,microcomputers would not have gianed in popularity as rapidly as they did.Microsoft BASIC is available on many different microcomputers,and estimates are that more tha half a million copies have been sold
