Bios:(ancronym for basic input or output system)part of operating system which hadles input and ouput statements .The term is also used to describe progam stored in ROM(and called Rom Bios),which are automatically run when computer is switched on allowing it to boot.Bios is uneffacted by upgrades to the operating system stored on disc.
BIT(contraction fo Binary digits)single binary digit either 0or 1.Abit is the smallest unit of data stored in a computer.all other data must be coded in to pattern of invidual bits.A byte represents sufficiant computer memmory to store a single character of data,and uevally contains 8 bits.For example in the ASCII code system used by most microcomputers the capital letter ..A would be store ina single byte of memmory as the bit pattern 01000001.
The maximum number of bits that computer can normally process at one time is called a wod.
